A weak structural design and poor welds caused this vehicle to collapse in on its young driver. Though she had no fault in the crash, she suffered a catastrophic brain injury.  The case was settled for a confidential amount.

The seat on this 1996 Hyundai Accent collapsed in a relatively minor collision.  The seatbelted passenger was ejected out the rear hatch and was paralyzed.  Peter O'Neil and Paul Whelan tried the case to an $8 million verdict and later got a major discovery sanction entered against Hyundai.

As a paralegal in the early 1990s Peter uncovered deeply burried secrets about this General Motors pickup.  Since then he has helped litigate and settle nine more cases involving the dangerously defective side-mounted gas tank design.  The settlements amounts are confidential.
